The Painter's Story

Fall term of Senior year, I took a class that our first assignment was to make a "self portrait that told our story." This is an 8in x 10in canvas panel depicting myself in black and white, except for my hazel eyes which were passed down from my ma. The Cayman parrot on the top right, is the national bird of the island I was raised on, and the frog on the bottom left is to represent a little saying my Cuban tia used to recite to me growing up, "Sana Sana." The two animals are also glued on to the canvas, made of painted cardboard.
